I have been reading most of the postings here on free advertising, some people say they do work, some say that they don't.

I have been advertising on the web for sometime now, and I would like to add my two cents.

Free advertising does work, if it is done properly.

Let me explain.

Advertising free or paid will not work if you do not know how your ad is performing. By that I mean that you must track your ads to see which ones are getting hits, which ones are getting signups, and which ones are not getting anything at all.

As I explain myself I will be giving examples and resources as well.

Last Sunday evening sent out an email through my favorite safe list, http://www.herculist.com/, and 35 minutes later I received two signups.

I also use http://www.trafficswarm.com/ and make it my homepage, and every time I open my browser I gain credit.

Yes, I use auto hits machine, but I also find and purchase product from the auto hits machine pages.

There is a trick to auto hits machine and traffic exchanges, they work very well, but you must use a doorway page for them. Regular websites have too much text to view in 20 to 30 seconds. Doorway page have moving text that command the focus of the viewer.

Here is result tracker http://www.resultstracker.com/. It is free to use, and it's also a cloaker too.

You should always cloak your SFI URL before you advertise it. If someone types in your SFI URL and makes a mistake they will get the SFI home page instead of getting an error page. So therefore you have lost the customer and the sale.

I use http://www.url123.com/ to shorten my url and it's free.

http://www.url123.com/c7ve2/ (snazzy promotions) is the safe list submitter that I use, and it is free.

Download http://www.roboform.com and use it to fill out the safe lists that you sign up for - tip: use the same username and password for all safe lists so that when you sign up for the same list twice it will tell you.

Go to www.autohitsmachine.com/. You can download it for free, but it is a long process to explain, and I am not up to it right now. So if you need to know how to download autohitsmachine please I will post it at another time.

I use worldwide promoter but I use the paid version, however you can get the free version. In order for ffa, and message boards, etc advertising to be effective you have to have minimum of 30 profiles going out at once, in that case you would need 30 Hotmail addresses. Why Hotmail? They have filters and auto delete.

Also you need a different URL for each profile. That is where results tracker becomes effective.

Now go advertise for free and make some money.

You must track your ads! if you are not tracking your ad, then you are advertising blindly; you are like a baseball pitcher pitching with a blind fold on.

One final thought. In one of the posts I read someone said that if a person has a good source of advertising, they should not tell anyone because the source would be flooded with SFI ads.

My thought is, wherever you are advertising, you need to have a lot of your ads there, the more SFO ads on a site the better the chances are that someone will click on them.

Newbie Thank you so...................much that help me alot I came saw and found as usual on Dboard I would like to get some info on FFA I have been studying and reading up on it but it is not coming alltogether for me I want to submitt some ads and banners but the url is not making sence to me :angrypc: anyway If I can get some info on this it will help well back to studying the program :Engergize

another tip:

for those 30 email accts...
realize that world wide promoter needs u to validate all used email addresses weekly. a way to make the tedious process much simpler = get a program like web2pop or something similar, b/c these free email providers are now charging for forwarding your emails to clients. Anyway, using programs like this, you're able to retrieve all emails from those free email accts. Therefore no login in and out. Good luck :)

I went to the autohitsmachine.com and bought the download for 29.95 and then after that the site wouldn't let me download it and it also comes up with an error 405 file not found. Also tried to email the autohitsmachine company and there isn't any response. I would like to advise me of what to do, and of were to go.

You are absolutly right about what you said, but what i also do is i put free advertising or free classifieds for moms, something different in my search browser everyday, and it works! Like i found this free classifieds- www.domesticsale.com, it is great! and it is free. i might just try your method as well. :BigEyes:

I have used autosurfing software for a while now, but I still haven't made up my mind if they are truly worth it. One of the selling pitches of these software sites is the convenience and how much time they will save you...well..I feel most people that use them do what I do..they set them on autopilot and go do something else..(mow the yard, walk the dog, play with the kids, etc) and never actually view the pages they bring up. I know when you sign up for one of the "surf-for-credit" sites, they allow you to put your own URLS into the rotation, so you DO get hits...BUT...how many times are they actually see by human eyes? Is the person out mowing the yard or washing dishes when your page goes by in your 20-30 second interval? Traffic..yes..they will get you traffic alright...but I haven't noticed many contacts from them. After all..your computer won't sign up for any newsletters while it is surfing alone, will it? I have had better luck with the manual traffic sites like Traffic Swarm that an actual person has to click a link to load the page. I agree that the doorway pages you use need to be simple, direct, and grab attention without being gawdy and poorly made. After all...you get about 20 seconds to grab someone's attention...then they click on.

If you choose to use autosurf software MAKE SURE you use a good adware/spyware removal tool. Your machine can and will pick up tons of junk just by loading sites one after another. One of the hardest things to get rid of is the IP ads that sneak by your firewall through your browser. Those things take advantage of your browser having permission to access the internet. Browser start page hijackers are another thing you will see a lot of when you start autosurfing. You need to be prepared for that as well, because they sometimes point to a page with inappropriate content that will TOTALLY embarrass you if you load your browser if a friend or family member is around! Be sure your spyware/adware remover can handle those things too. I always run my spyware remover after I autosurf and clean my machine. I also run my antivirus at LEAST every other day to make sure nothing slips by in my email.

I always keep my important files backed up on a re-writeable CD, just in case I have to reformat as a last resort to get a particular baddie out of my system. (I just had to do that very about 2 weeks ago because of the junk a popular ad-blasting site loaded onto my machine.)

Good ol' Crazy Browser..hehe..there are autosurf sites that load a new page by simply reloading your start URL..I found it works best for me with those type sites. You can make a text file listing the start urls of the sites you use, save it to your desktop or some other folder, naming it myURLS.txt or something similiar. Then use crazybrowser's "import urls" feature to load that file. When you do this, it will load each url under it's own tab (I recommend no more than 10 at a time, max). Then open the slideshow feature and slide the interval setting all the way to the right and click the button that turns it on. just like that, you are surfing. With no external autosurf software!
Before you enable this feature, there may be a couple sites you have to log onto first, so do that before turning on the slideshow feature. One advantage to this technique is you can set this in motion, then minimize CB and let it run while you do something else...something you cannot do when using autosurf software, since the automated thing will load a page in whatever IE window you have up at the time.

I have been trying FFA's and Free Classifieds..the FFA's will display your ads for just a few hours usually..then they get pushed down the page by newer posts and eventually off the bottom of the page. I have had better luck with reciprocal linking. I have had decent success with US Free Ads since my ad stays there a lot longer (as much as two weeks under the free account!) An added benefit is Yahoo actually spiders that site, so don't be surprised if your ad shows up on Yahoo Search or Google!

The popular traffic toolbars people are pushing now will install adware in order to function..they access a remote server when they load, remember? Plus, you can't remove it without uninstalling the toolbar,or it ceases to function. By all means,use them if you want, but be aware of this particular facet of ad toolbars...when they are active in your browser, a remote server somewhere has access to your machine through your firewall.

I never reinstalled the toolbar I was using after I reformatted because I didn't feel I was getting quality hits, just credits spent when they loaded in a toolbar briefly while people were doing something else and never clicked on my ad!

A couple of points here:

1. Do NOT use Autohitsmachine – it is cheat software that refreshes manual traffic exchanges. It won’t work on decent TEs that uses scripts such as the LJ script which require you to log in to surf. And if you get caught using it you’ll get banned and possibly blacklisted by all the TE owners (no joke!)

2. Word Submitter is now Pro only, there is no free option.

Other than that, not bad !

Be careful with worldwide promoter...reputable classified sites, boards, and FFA sites consider it spamming when you post the same ad titles, contents, and URLS 15-30 times on the same boards. Be sure to make your ad titles unique and attention grabbing, and use a hit tracking service in resultstracker.com that gives you a unique tracking url for each ad.

As far as autohitmachine...just use CrazyBrowser with a manual surf site loaded into each of 6-10 tabs and manually surf..going from tab to tab..the first will be ready to rotate to the next page before you click the one on the last tab and you can rack up 1000 or so credits in just an hour :)

Silke, have you heard anything good or bad about anybody hosting their own classified ad site? I have been thinking about it..I have the script and the space..but I shudder to think about the bandwidth use.

Make sure to use a hit tracker that provides a unique url for each of your 30 profiles so the ads won't be considered spam. Change the ad titles a bit too.
For example, 30 identical ad titles, ad descriptions and URLs will get you banned from the FFA, Classifieds, and boards they submit to for spamming.

Autohitmachine is good for one thing...you can brand it with your ad and sell it. That's about all the use I can see for it..oh..and filling your machine up with malware.

Has anyone tried setting up your own classified ad site? I got the script and a decent host..but the bandwidth use worries me..

Hi Cutter,

I host a class ad site and an FFA site at my domain, mainly for use of my members.
It was more down to when we were experimenting with ad sites a while back than anything else.

It all depends how good you are with websites and SEO. You would need a high traffic site to get a lot of people there to place the ads. If you can generate lots of traffic to your site, why waste it on an ad site so people can place their own ads on it? Why not just advertise your business on it?

As you say, bandwidth will be an issue.

It’s not necessary to get ahead in affiliate marketing, which is what SFI is, it’s a whole different side to Internet Marketing. You’d need to get involved with the people that do this kind of thing at their forums and discuss the pros and cons see if it is for you.
